Dr Kris Goodwin – MBChB (UP) DA(SA)
Born in the UK, Dr Kris grew up in Kloof, a small town just outside Durban, South Africa. From a young age, he had a passion for helping people and loved doing outreaches with his church group in his hometown, and thereafter in a gap year that took him all over the country. This led to his calling to be a medical doctor.
After graduating from the University of Pretoria in 2013, Dr Kris moved back to KwaZulu-Natal, where he did his internship and community service training at Prince Mshiyeni Memorial Hospital, a largely under-resourced and overpopulated hospital serving the south of Durban and Umlazi township. It was here that he fell in love with Anaesthetics.
Post-community-service, he then moved to Pietermaritzburg and qualified as a Diplomate Anaesthetist from Grey’s Hospital in early 2017. Dr Kris has run a thriving anaesthetic practice in Johannesburg since 2019 to date, including frontline work during the COVID-19 pandemic.
In 2024, after years of learning about the power of psychedelics, he opened Intrinsic Pathways, a practice where he can share his passion to help people in their mental health journey, and build a therapeutic relationship based on trust, ethics, and deep and profound care and compassion.
He believes in a balanced, integrated and evidence-based approach to self-care, where educating patients holistically on physical health, mental health and spiritual health is key to living a full, happy and meaningful life. His hobbies include hiking, exercising and supporting the Springboks!
